Lord, help me to enjoy my faith

A prayer….

Father, there is no doubt that it is you that gave me the gift of faith. The measure of my faith is a reflection of the gift of giving me the amount of faith that I not only can handle but also the faith I can feel reflecting the presence of your spirit.

It is through your spirit, Lord, that I feel your understanding that I can only somewhat articulate. You are Majesty, and with you are all things wonderful, exciting and wonderfully created for us to enjoy. You are the Most of all things that we are ever to see as we contemplate your beauty. You are beautiful, Lord, and wonderfully existenant within our existence. Lord, only you know the depths of our hearts and know what kind of faith we need in these days.

You, Lord, are the Almighty and powerful above all things. When we recognize these things and fall at your feet, all things fall before us, fore they know that we are adopted sons and daughters of the Most High God.

Lord, if only my words could be enough to create a word picture great enough for someone who doesn’t know you to understand. Oh, how wonderful you are.

You hold my heart. You are the love of my life. You are forever. You are more than I could ever ask for. You are my faith, and you help me to enjoy every monument of faith that I am given.

Lord, Jesus, it is you that is after my heart, but I thought it was me after yours. You have been so good to me that there are no words to describe it. You are a light unto my feet and a lamp unto my path. How could I ever be persuaded to be against you. With such love, you are my all. You are my forever. You are my Saviour. Thank you, Jesus.

Dear friends, it is my prayer that this prayer will be yours as well.

Go forth and be blessed my friends.

When it doesn’t go as planned

This morning, God gave me a message for someone. I do not know who that person is, but it is my hope that you all will be blessed by what I am about to share.

My morning started with a message, but it was within my time of writing that God gave me 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV:

Therefore we did not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

This morning, as I awoke and began to get ready for my day, I decided to take a look outside, and, well, I was a bit disappointed. While clouds like a thick fog rising up from rooftops on an early, clear morning can be a beautiful sight, there is only one reason that this phenomenon is taking place – very frigid temperatures. So as I take a look at what the weather holds for the day, I find that the real feel temperature is minus 38. Brrrr!

Temperatures this cold would mean that my day would not go according to plan. When it’s this cold, I don’t get my little ones out, and this means that the list of things I needed to do would have to be put off for another day.

Many parents would be excited for such a day, but most people still have their family around to help with the kiddos or so that you and your spouse can go out on a date. These things are highly valued for us as they rarely come.

It is the things like this in life, as well as the times that feel like everyday is like the movie Groundhog Day, that you experience what I call ” a dry spell”. This is when your days don’t go according to plan, or they are feeling mundane – when your days are about as exciting as a dry piece of toast.

This is not an unusual phenomenon, and it happens to us all. It causes us to want to make a change – to shake things up a bit.

Dry spells can be experienced in any number of ways. It may be your job, a certain endeavor, or even your relationship with your spouse, among others. Simply put, wherever the issue is, you are tired and weary of how things are going.

I have been there. After 14 years of marriage, one might think that every day is marital bliss, but I beg to differ. There are times that I feel ignored or that my passions don’t matter. At times I am tired of each day being the same thing over and over. Sometimes I feel under appreciated and wonder if I am even loved – by my kids, by my spouse. It is a real struggle for everyone, if you are willing to admit it. Somehow, deep down, we don’t want to admit our struggle, because facing it could mean you find a real problem.

At some point in your life, you will feel this way. It is a symptom of becoming older.

But let me remind you of something – things are not always what they seem. I might feel under appreciated or unloved, but that does not mean that it is true. When we talk to God about what we are experiencing, we will be renewed.

We must turn these moments over to God by telling him all about what’s deep within us and ask him to help us to get through it. You must be willing to forgive the people who make you feel this way, and ask God to work in their lives too. We should, also, admit to ourselves, that what is see should not be our focus, but, rather, we should focus on what is unseen – the spiritual realm where our Almighty God is acting on our behalf.

Whatever you are going through is temporary, but if you react, you could be making it permanent. Each day, surrender those feelings to God, and you will be renewed. Don’t have an expectation of God of when the renewal will take place but that it will.

We can count on God to renew us each day, but when it comes to other things, we must be patient to allow God to work things out according to our own good. Remember that work takes time, and everything in time is sweeter than if it was rushed.

Go forth and be blessed my friend.
