As I read John 16, I think about the disciples and what Jesus told them. In John 16:12 (NIV), Jesus says,
I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
I can only imagine how terrified the disciples might be if they were transported to see everything we live with today.
I wonder what the disciples would point out to us. And I wonder what they would have to say about the world we live in right now.
The disciples would definitely witness that we live in a world of chaos. They might even say that we were a lost cause.
I love what Jesus tells us in verse 13,
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.
I am so glad that we have Jesus who sent the Spirit of truth to us to guide us in truth. This is the Holy Spirit, our counselor. We need the Holy Spirit to live a life the way Jesus told us that we would need to live, and he is available to us today, right now.
Where are you today? Do you acknowledge the Spirit of truth as important in your life?
What message does Jesus send to you through the Holy Spirit today? Does he know you? Make things right with God today, for you do not know what tomorrow brings.
