I find it very interesting how Philippians 3:12-14 NIV ended up surfacing this morning. The cry of my heart this morning was that of uncertainty. Do you feel it too? Have you felt feelings of uncertainty and not sure where those feelings are coming from. As for me, those feelings cause me to stop and evaluate a decision I am about to make. It causes me to hesitate.

In my time of prayer, God was already showing me the importance of pressing in to him, or spending more time dwelling on and listening to what He is revealing to me. It gives me time to ponder and consider the decisions, or challenges, being presented before me.

Seeing this verse surface added meaning to what is going on in my spirit. It says,

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Then in verses 13-14, it goes on to say,

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Keeping my eyes on Jesus is what keeps my eyes off of my past and helps me to make decisions that not only edifies God but also places me on a path that is good for me.

Let me be very honest, I completely understand that there are many decisions that can be very difficult to make, some that we may be scorned for, but when we keep our eyes on Jesus, we are better able to stay focused on the prize ahead – Heaven – and not the scorn, or even fear.

When we have our our eyes on Jesus, we are better able to stand up in times of fear or even scorn. Jesus stood up under that cross, and he stood up when he was on that cross until it was his time to go heavenward. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus.
