As children of God, we are the bride of Christ and Jesus is our groom. It is a picture of how passionate that Jesus is for us. He gives himself up for us. If we were to see this marriage to Jesus in a same way that we sometimes see marriage here on Earth, then all we might see is that if we submit to Jesus then he may divorce us. But that is not how it is at all. Jesus will never forsake us.

Marriage here on Earth is to be a glimpse into Jesus’ love for us. If our marriages fail, then we lose sight of what love really is. And if we lose that, then it’s hard to believe how much Jesus really loves us and how passionate he is for us and that he died for us.
